Introduction

Zanzibar Psychological Counseling Association-ZAPCA is a Nongovernmental Organization that was officially registered by the Registrar of the societies appointed under section 9 of the Society Act No 6 of 1995 on 18th November 2013 with the given name of Zanzibar Psychological Counseling Association (ZAPCA) with registration number Z0000003445.

After identifying the needs for psychological counseling in schools, colleges, universities, industries, hospitals and all community settings, ZAPCA was formed to respond to growing psychological and social challenges in the community.

Community Need

This need has been identified through increasing episodes of depression, worries, anxiety, sadness, confusion, irritability, high immorality, low self-esteem, antisocial behaviors, loneliness, poor health conditions, low academic achievement, and wider social and economic effects.

Health Facilities

Supporting patients, families, and healthcare workers facing stress, trauma, emotional exhaustion, chronic illness, and loss.

Education Settings

Helping schools, colleges, and universities respond to anxiety, depression, bullying, performance pressure, and learner wellbeing.

Raising awareness and improving access to counselling support for families, youth, and vulnerable groups.
